MISSION STATEMENT

Dr Michael Merhige is a solo physician, General Cardiology practice, that provides heart disease
patients with individualized, state of the art diagnosis, and aggressive medical management of the
entire spectrum of cardiac disease.

The goal of Dr Merhige is to maximize the quality and duration of life for heart disease patients,
using all conventional cardiac testing, as well as highly accurate, noninvasive positron emission
tomography (Cardiac PET), to guide and assess the results of aggressive medical management to
achieve coronary disease reversal and minimize adverse cardiac events.

Invasive procedures such as direct coronary angiography, PCI and CABG, are
deemphasized, and reserved for only those patients who will receive a mortality or symptom
relief benefit.

A single Board Certified Cardiologist, not a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, provides
your initial clinical consultation, execution and interpretation of all noninvasive testing,
o
Your subsequent treatment plan is informed by integrating all of your test results, and clinical
data, as well as by your personal preferences.
o
Your care is managed in your individual best interest, without regard to hospital or “group”
affiliations, incorporating the best clinical expertise available in Western New York.
